Growing up in a small town in Alaska, getting online was my connection to the wider world. This is how I first got interested in UX. The journey to my current spot was not always a straight one. Graphic design in San Francisco, Fashion industry in NYC. I took a detour into the hospitality business of Boulder, CO, working both front of the house and cooking in the back as well.
These journeys may seem disparate, but they are all very connected. My experiences in hospitality fuses with my years in UX to create a dynamic mixture that helps me empathize with users and teammates in unique and creative ways.
I still love to cook and setting a table. Hosting a dinner party and building a corporate website have so much in common. You must nail the main course, but the whole experience is what leaves people remembering how good the meal was.
